A Storm of Memes Pressures Big Tech to Break Up With Big Oil
Google, Amazon, and Microsoft all have commitments to address the climate emergency. But they're doing this while writing A.I. and providing cloud computing services to major oil companies. How should we let everyone know about the destructive hypocrisy of three tech giants?
With a storm of memes! We built a meme generator and then invited activist groups, workers' climate groups, and everyone else we knew to participate in weekly challenges to put pressure on the three Tech Giants to stop accelerating the destruction of our planet.
Twitter was absolutely flooded with memes through a phase of worker agitation, helping add fuel to the fire for these companies to actually take the climate emergency seriously. Inside Climate News took note and ran a story about the complimentary approaches our organizations took.
